Correctional HealthCare Consultants began in 2007 when Dr. Lori Roscoe was asked to help a nursing company write a response to a Request For Proposal for nursing staffing at a local jail. That proposal was accepted, and Dr. Roscoe accepted the challenge to structure the healthcare program using the national standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the American Correctional Association, including the development of an orientation program for healthcare staff, and the development of post orders, policies and procedures, and Nursing Protocols. She took an active role in training the nursing staff at that time. She also developed a complete Continuous Quality Improvement Program for the site. She was then asked to go onsite quarterly to ensure that the program met the needs of the incarcerated individuals at the facility and was compliant with the policies, procedures and protocols that had been initiated.
During this time, Dr. Roscoe was also asked to review the health record of a patient who had died in a correctional facility to ascertain whether anything should have been done differently regarding his care and treatment.
Today, Correctional HealthCare Consultants LLC continues to consult in both correctional healthcare operations and legal cases involving the correctional health environment.

Dr. Lori Roscoe
Correctional HealthCare Consultants, LLC is led by Dr. Lori Roscoe. Dr. Roscoe is an Autonomous Practice Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, certified through the National Commission on Correctional Health Care as a Certified Correctional Health Professional Registered Nurse (CCHP-RN). This designation not only demonstrates mastery of national standards and the knowledge expected of leaders in this field, but also is reflective of expertise in correctional nursing. She has a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama, and a PhD in Healthcare Administration. Dr. Roscoe has a Master of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a Healthcare Concentration. Dr. Roscoe began working in Corrections in 1995 as the Health Service Administrator for a female prison in the Northeastern United States. MORE
